Durga is a form of the Mother Goddess, the divine Feminine. There are many incarnations of Goddess Durga, with the word ‘Durga’ meaning the Invincible One. Durga is often considered to be a form of Adishakti, the primordial cosmic energy in the Hindu tradition. Glorious and beautiful in form, this poem is a celebration of the idea of the divine Feminine.
Bedecked with bedazzling beads,
glimmering gems,
the Feminine fosters,
……………………. forevermore,
O Durgeshwari, dear Goddess,
may thy tread in my soul.
– Mrittunjoy Guha Majumdar
